For the project The Return of the Swallows, Els Dietvorst spent six years exploring the ‘roots’ of the Anneessens district in Brussels and its inhabitants. The stories and dreams of 33 of these so-called swallows, people with diverse cultural and social backgrounds, form the basis for a multimedia project, including performances, process films, a feature length film, drawings, texts, photographs and these five publications.
